PBR-to-Retro Texture Baker

PBR2PSX

Bake modern PBR material sets down into authentic PS1-era textures.

About

Load a PBR map set (albedo, normal, AO, roughness, metallic…), fake-light it into a single baked diffuse, then crush it to a retro look: low resolution, limited color, dithered.

Key features

  • Auto material grouping — classifies maps by filename and groups them into materials.
  • Fake-lit bake — combines albedo, normal, AO, roughness/metallic, and emission into one lit texture, with per-material light angle, intensity, and color.
  • Authentic PSX pipeline — progressive downscale, color limiting (per-channel posterize or true indexed CLUT palettes), and Bayer / Floyd-Steinberg / Atkinson dithering.
  • Presets — lock a consistent look across a whole texture set.
  • Batch export — process a folder of materials and export them all at once.

How it works

Drop a PBR material set, tweak the lighting, set the PSX output (resolution, colors, dither), and export.
